Fall 2007 Progress Report
This fall, Gateway 1 moves into its final phase. At the first Steering Committee Meeting on October 24th, we'll be taking a look at how the computerized travel demand model will work, and what kind if information it will give us. When complete, these projections will allows us to more clearly pinpoint trouble spots that will develop along Route 1 through 2030. This will be the basis for the transportation aspect of the Corridor Plan..
We expect active development of the Plan to be well underway by next spring. Also early on in this phase will be development of possible new "institutional arrangements" that would allow the corridor communities to implement the Plan once it is finalized and accepted. This will be one of the most innovative aspects of Gateway 1, as we try to transcend the existing gap between land use and transportation planning in Maine..
